Many companies use different applications to store and manage their documents and information for various reasons. Reasons for this are often incompatible legacy systems, not yet consolidated isolated applications, or simply the fear of committing oneself to specific software developer. Data is stored in file servers, in ERP- and CRM-applications, archives or document-management-systems, for example. When trying to quickly find a specific document, an invoice, or an e-mail, the user faces an almost impossible task: Where to start, where to look? One can imagine the time involved.

For this problem, the COI GmbH offers an innovative solution: The Universal-ECM Client. Beside the standard tools to view documents and information managed by COI-BusinessFlow, this new component allows searching documents and information across system boundaries. With this technology of the Xtechnology-family, users can search various document storages and access the information contained within.

The middleware – designed as a Web application – can be extended and adapted to the user´s individual needs. The Universal-ECM Client´s superior function layer integrates smoothly with the system´s design. The applied Web technology offers a basis for a convenient use of the Client´s functional modules.
