The GEMA purchases a corporate license of COI-BusinessFlow Document Management System by the COI GmbH

Herzogenaurach, 11 August 2008 – The Gesellschaft für musikalische Aufführungs- und mechanische Vervielfältigungsrechte, GEMA, purchases a corporate license for the archive, document (DMS), and workflow management system (WMS) COI-BusinessFlow of the software developer COI GmbH from Herzogenaurach.

Following numerous successfully completed projects, GEMA is continuing the advancement of the document management system by the COI GmbH with the purchase of a corporate license. As a results of this roll-out, all workstations are now equipped with a client license of the software developer from Herzogenaurach. This is not limited to the head office in Munich and Berlin but also includes the ten regional offices in Germany.

This customized solutions by the DMS specialist COI has been supporting various complex processes within the GEMA for many years. Examples are administering customer documents, works descriptions and notifications, and film and TV rights, producing files on involved parties, filing internal and external documents from ten regional offices, and interfacing with numerous technical GEMA applications.

The licensee project, which collects, processes, and manages in a procedural manner all documents on the licensing of intellectual property rights regarding CD producers (publishers) or concert promoters, was completed successfully last year. With the introduction of the AIDA application and the involved changes to the central DMS, COI was once again able to prove its expertise in system integration in 2008. As a result of the lasting, successful software deployment, third-party archives of various sizes could be detached. At present, the plan includes interfacing with the works notification on the Internet and removing another archive. GEMA and COI are planning further milestones for on-going and upcoming departmental projects at various locations.
